The History
Every year since 1996, the New Year Dash brings out the
finest oval racers in the Northeast U.S., Canada, and beyond. Racers come to CNY every year for their shot at beating local hot shoes and taking home the title of New Year Dash Champion. For years and years, the New Year Dash has had one of the biggest turnouts for 12th scale oval in the country, some years even having more than the Snowbird's.
In recent years, 12th scale turnouts took a bit of a hit with all the changing motor and battery technology, but
last year saw an incline in entries and this year is expected to be even better
with the TOUR adding 12th to its line-up as a points paying class. Former participants and winners
is like a who's who of oval racing. Racers that have competed at the New Year
Dash over the years are National Champions Frank Ulbrik, Todd Putnam, Brian Burkhart, Mike
Murphy, Mike McMahon and the very fast Pete D'Agnolo. Other top racers
such as Steve Salvas, Brian Ziegler, Steve Rocket Miller, Jeff Dayger, and Jake Flurer have
taken to the carpet oval in central NY. Look for the 16th Annual to be just as
prestigious.
