CRC Raceway News...

Round 1 of the 2010 Northeast Pro Series is in the books...

Everyone really enjoyed the track on Friday for practice, and we were all gearing up to do battle on Saturday for qualifying. As it turns out, the battle wasn't against the competition's clock, it was against mother nature's. We had 210 entries in 21 heats, times 4 rounds, equals 84 races that should have been ran on Saturday. In the end, the biggest battle was clearing the water off the track and then getting the track into some sort of race-able condition before the rain started again. We were only able to run the first 18 heats of round 1 and had to finish the round Sunday morning. Saturday's rain was the longest, hardest rain we've seen since moving into this building and putting up the off-road track in 2001. We have had storms where it rained harder than it did Saturday, but it only rains with that type of force for 15, maybe 30 minutes and then calms down. The weather Saturday was relentless, pounding us over and over, leaving the soupiest, sloppy mess we've ever seen here. To say it was muddy is a gross understatement. Words can't even describe how soft the ground was, and what the track crew and corner marshals had to deal with. We need to thank all of the racers that stuck it out on Saturday, and those of you that even helped us work on the track. We greatly appreciate each and every one of you who came out for our Pro Series race, even through the less than perfect conditions. Luckily, Sunday stayed rain free (except for the occasional sprinkle that didn't even stop the races) and we had some killer racing. Drivers and spectators all said they had a great time, and that's what it's all about. We all persevered through Mother Nature's temper tantrum and then kicked her where it counts by having a good time on Sunday anyway.

Congratulations to all the winners, and THANKS AGAIN to everyone who came and "stuck it out" with us in the mud.

Next up...

If you haven't heard by now, WE ARE RACING THIS THURSDAY 6/17. Usually we take the Thursday after the Pro Series off to let everyone recoup from the long weekend, but since we didn't get a whole lot of track time this past weekend, many racers have requested that we race this week. So we will be racing Thursday, however it won't be for points in case some of you had already made plans according to the previously posted schedule.

There is NO RACING SUNDAY 6/20. This date was never on the schedule, but some how inadvertently made it onto the racing calendar page.

The next Sunday Series points race is Sunday 6/27, and the sponsor is still TBD. We will post prize info as soon as a sponsor is secured, but you can all count on there being a points race that day even if the prize info is posted late.

See You All Soon...
